How to set up recurring sales on Shopify
4 min read
Some sales aren't one-offs. A weekend deal, a Friday flash sale, a first-of-the-month clearance — these are promotions you want to run again and again. Rebuilding them by hand every week is exactly the kind of repetitive task that gets skipped or forgotten.
What a recurring sale is
A recurring sale is a template plus a schedule. You define the discount and what it applies to once, then choose how often it repeats. Each time it comes around, it applies at the start of the window and reverts at the end — the same automatic behaviour as a one-off sale, on a repeat.
- Daily — the same sale window every day.
- Weekly — on the weekdays you choose, such as Saturday and Sunday.
- Monthly — on a day of the month you pick, such as the 1st.
Each repeat runs inside a daily time window you set — for example, 9:00am to 6:00pm — so a weekend sale can start Saturday morning and end Sunday evening, every weekend.
Set one up
- Choose the products or collectionThe same targeting as a one-off sale: specific products, or an entire collection.
- Set the discountPercentage off, amount off, or a fixed price.
- Pick the repeat and the time windowDaily, weekly on chosen days, or monthly — plus the start and end time for each occurrence.
A couple of examples
- Weekend deal: weekly on Saturday and Sunday, 12:00am to 11:59pm, 20% off a 'Weekend' collection.
- Monthly clearance: monthly on the 1st, a fixed sale price on your clearance products.
SunDial runs recurring sales for free. Build it once and it repeats on its own.

Can you schedule recurring sales on Shopify?
Not natively, but a scheduled-sales app can. SunDial runs daily, weekly (on chosen weekdays), or monthly sales, each with a daily time window.
Do recurring sales revert automatically too?
Yes. Every occurrence applies at the start of its window and restores your original prices at the end, just like a one-off sale.
